CREATING A VIBRANT COMMUNITY

The George Town Revitalisation Initiative is a multi-year government project, led by the Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure, designed to bring life and vibrancy back to Cayman’s capital.

The following principles provide the framework of all projects under the initiative and are based on our goal to create a dynamic, mixed-use town centre that supports the everyday life of Cayman Islands residents.

CONSERVATION

We are revitalising several of George Town’s historical sites into attractive green landmarks that pay homage to our island’s heritage whilst supporting a modern and thriving urban culture.

CONNECTIVITY

By reimagining the central business district as a whole, we can improve walkability and accessibility through new road links, pedestrianised streets and shared cycleways.

COMMUNITY

Introducing green spaces and pocket parks will deepen people’s interaction with the city, the natural environment and each other.

TECHNOLOGY

New state-of-the-art infrastructure will enhance city life with free public wi-fi providing instant information and increased efficiencies for residents and visitors alike.

SUSTAINABILITY

Thoughtful design is at the heart of the George Town Revitalisation project. From LED lighting and solar-powered benches to utility upgrades and tree replanting, we are committed to a sustainable vision for the future.
